Meet Kaleb.
Kaleb is a Red Seal carpenter, firefighter, and lifelong builder. His career has taken him through renovations, timber framing, heritage carpentry, and even teaching construction fundamentals at Mohawk College. That range of experience shaped how he approaches every project today.
His style is quiet, careful, and craft-focused. Kaleb believes in clear expectations, realistic timelines, and workmanship that speaks for itself. Workmanship that meets the expectations of the Nova Scotia environment long after the work is completed.
Meet Melissa.
Melissa is the steady hand behind Schriefer Construction. She oversees scheduling, communication, and organization, the details that keep projects moving smoothly from start to finish.
She brings warmth, patience, and structure to every conversation. When clients reach out, Melissa is often the first person they speak with and the one who makes sure they always feel informed, supported, and heard throughout the renovation process.
Our Story.
We moved to Nova Scotia for land, space, and a quieter pace of life.
The kind of place where family comes first, neighbours know each other, and the work you do genuinely matters.
Not long after arriving, we saw how much need there was for dependable tradespeople who show up, communicate clearly, and take pride in the details.
That’s where Schriefer Construction was born.
I’ve always been a builder. Melissa has always been the organized, steady force who keeps everything on track. Together, we realized we could create something meaningful here: a North Shore home renovation company built on craftsmanship, honesty, and the kind of integrity that people in small communities still value.
Schriefer Construction didn’t come from a business plan; it grew from a simple observation: people deserve contractors they can trust. We know we can fill that gap by combining my carpentry experience with Melissa’s strength in communication and client support.
Our goal isn’t to become the biggest company. It is to become the most reliable.

Melissa grew up in Southern California and earned her B.A. in Communications from the University of California, San Diego. They met while Kaleb was living in California, eventually moved to the Niagara Region, and welcomed their three children.
As much as they loved our home, family, and friends, they were ready for a new chapter and a sense of adventure.
